Ducted Air Conditioning — common questions
Can you retrofit a ducted system into an existing house?+
In most single-storey homes with roof access, yes. We pre-inspect to check ceiling cavity clearance and structural beam locations before we quote. Double-storey or older heritage homes need more thought — we will tell you up front.
How does zoning work?+
We split your home into 3-8 zones (typically living + each bedroom). Each zone has its own damper and a thermostat or app control. You only condition the rooms in use — saves 30-40% on running costs vs an unzoned system.
What about heating?+
Inverter heat-pump ducted systems heat as well as cool, with COPs of 3.5-4.5 — about a third the running cost of resistive electric heating.
